FoxNews.com Corporate Media Mudfight

As the country continues to deteriorate the consolidated and enormously profitable corporate media — that substantively controls public discourse in the U.S.– is sustaining a meaningless level of discourse. This spares the networks from having to tell the hard, honest truth about the issues, such as the Pentagon, taxes, foreign trade, energy, etc…, as well as to spare the corporate-sponsored candidates the requirement of taking a substantive position on any substantive issue.

But, Americans “trust” the media and the politicians the media promote, so there is no impetus for meaningful national political discourse, let alone meaningful policy change.

Back to the days of “Silent” Calvin Coolidge, I guess.

With his focus on balancing the budget, cutting taxes, and decreasing the size and role of the federal government, Calvin Coolidge would be a dream candidate for the Republican Party here in the 21st century. “Perhaps one of the most important accomplishments of my administration has been minding my own business,” Coolidge said while President. Minding his own business came naturally to President Coolidge.
